The Green Schools Foundation is delighted to announce its financial backing of the prestigious annual Laws of Life essay contest, regionally sponsored by the Better Business Association. This initiative, held each April, highlights the moral and ethical values that guide students throughout their lives. It is an event that not only challenges the participants to reflect deeply but also to articulate their thoughts in profound and inspiring essays.

This year’s reception for the district winners marked a remarkable achievement for our community, especially with the commendable success of three of our students at the Regional level. We were thrilled to see one of our students not only participate but excel, securing the Best Overall title in this competitive forum.

Our Esteemed Winners:

  • Hailey Bennett took home the top honor with the Best Overall award and a prize of $750 for her insightful exploration of diabetes, showcased in her compelling essay. "Essay 401."

  • Carmina Ciccarelli-Aloisi, serving as a student liaison for the Green Schools Foundation, earned the Bronze award and $100 for her essay on "Learning and Mentoring" (Essay 402).

  • Brynn Fisher also received the Bronze award and $100 for her poignant essay focused on suicide prevention, "Essay 403."

It is inspiring to see our students articulate such vital topics with clarity and maturity. Their success speaks volumes about the nurturing environment our schools strive to provide, under the guidance of dedicated educators and coordinators. A special shoutout to Mrs. Tammy DeDominicis, the Laws of Life Coordinator, who has been instrumental in integrating this contest into the curriculum. Additionally, our heartfelt thanks go to GHS ELS teachers Annie Knight, Natalie Tannehill, and Jamie Signorino, whose efforts have significantly enriched our students’ learning experiences.

The Green Schools Foundation is proud of these young leaders, who not only represented our school district with distinction but also brought to life the values we hold dear. Their achievements reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that foster academic and personal growth among students.

Congratulations once again to Hailey, Carmina, and Brynn! Your hard work and dedication are a beacon of inspiration for all of us at the Green Schools Foundation and beyond. Keep shining bright!
